State of Michigan Launches Helping Hand Website
Last week Governor Granholm and the State of Michigan launched a website to better serve residents applying for unemployment benefits, food assistance and other help.
According to the Detroit News:
“The so-called "helping hand" portal, at michigan.gov/helpinghand, will enable people to look into job training, unemployment benefits, health care and other services by clicking icons.
The site for the first time will allow residents to apply online for food stamps. The site also allows users to determine if they are eligible for Medicaid health care coverage and other assistance. Cash assistance applications still are face-to-face. “
The increase of applications caused by economic factors has led to the creation of more online resources for residents in need. The site provides information on five categories, including: Jobs & Training, Unemployment Benefits, Health Care, Family Support, and Housing Help.
Please share the word about this new resource and let residents know the services now available online.
